There it is: Facebook Dark Mode

Maybe you’ve noticed it yourself or maybe you haven’t, but Facebook is slowly starting to roll out the Dark Mode. First it was Instagram and Messenger’s turn, now it’s time for Facebook itself.

On Facebook we are slowly but surely seeing the roll out of the Facebook ‘Dark Mode’ for iPhone and iPad. The dark version of the blue-white homepage. Some users have noticed recently that their timeline was suddenly dark in the Facebook application.

But the dark mode is not yet available to everyone. Facebook came up with the message: “Only a small percentage of global users can currently try out the function”. Are you one of them? It could be just so!

Rest for the eyes

But why a Dark Mode? The dark color gives the eyes more rest. Especially useful for people who are scrolling on their smartphone in the evening or at night.

Facebook itself chose grey tones with white accents for logos and icons. Apps such as Messenger and WhatsApp (also owned by Facebook) do not do this. They are darker.

But how do you activate this Dark Mode? In the Facebook app, go to the 3 lines at the bottom and search for ‘settings and privacy’. Not convinced of the Dark Mode? Then you can easily switch back to the classic layout.
