Already using Facebook? Perfect. But are you using it well? There are several ways to get even more out of your Facebook account. Which are they? Start with these 9 tips & tricks.
1. Consider a real eye-catcher as covervisual
Creating a Facebook page is easy and only takes a few steps. But if you want to increase your engagement, take some time to optimize your profile.
Make sure your page is easy to find with your own simple username. Think you’re already a big brand? Then ask for your blue verification check mark.
Did you know that you can also set a video as covervisual for up to 20 seconds? It’s the eye catcher for your page!
Don’t forget that all your basic settings are set correctly. Address, phone number, email, short description, … It may speak for itself, but it is easy to forget.
2. Provide extra traffic
Starting up your Facebook page? Let your existing audience know! Chances are 99% of them are also on Facebook.
Add a follow or share button to your website or blog page.
Don’t forget to do cross-promotion either. Not only your website can link to your Facebook, but also vice versa. Flyers and business cards can also contain the link to your username on social media. Or add a handy QR-code.
3. Create relevant content
Don’t just create social media content out of nothing. Your followers don’t need spam. Take time to think about what’s relevant to your industry and what your followers value. Someone who gets attention for your page, will keep the attention more often afterwards.
Quick tip: do you have likes on your posts of non-followers? No problem! Just invite them to like your page. Click on the list of names below the message, scroll down in the window and click on the ‘invite’ button.
Don’t you dare? Don’t be shy. These people have just liked your post and are already showing interest in what you are doing. Who doesn’t dare…
4. Pin valuable content
Pins? No, we’re not on Pinterest, but you can pin messages at the top of your feed.
Do this with your best post. The one with the most likes or engagement, a post relevant to an ongoing promotion, … It will only cost you 1 click.
And don’t forget to update these posts from time to time. Otherwise you will create the feeling that your page is not being maintained.
5. Call to action!
The call to action button is located at the top of your Facebook page. So make sure you use this opportunity to send your visitors the right way.
Sign up, send message, visit website, shop, … These are all possible triggers that you can present to your visitors.
To adjust the CTA-button, hover your mouse over the default ‘send message button’ and click edit.
6. Organize your tabs
Every Facebook page has basic tabs. They are located on the left side of your page. About’, ‘Events’, ‘Shop’, …
Did you know that you can organize these tabs yourself in order? And that you can choose to leave them out and add some? The ‘Shop’ tab for webshops is not standard, by the way. You have to add it separately to open your ‘Facebook Shop’.
7. Schedule, schedule, schedule
Consistent, quality messages keep your audience busy, but dropping everything twice a day to create a smart, tight, intriguing and relevant post with beautiful visuals is not sustainable.
Of course, it can also be different. Create a social media calendar and schedule your posts in advance. More time for your core business! What you are really good at.
8. Set up a chatbot
Make sure that people who send you a message on Facebook receive an immediate response! We know you’re not available 24/24, but a chatbot is.
Facebook’s Response Assistant provides a greeting text for anyone who is about to send a message to your page. It can also send a direct response to all incoming messages so that people know that you will be with them as soon as possible.

- Click Messaging in the left column
- Under Response Assistant
- Toggle the bar to Yes for Send Instant Replies to anyone who messages your Page
OR Toggle the bar to Yes for Show a Messenger Greeting - Click Change

9. Let people know that you are away (for a while)
Users can see how often and how quickly you respond to messages. If you want them to stay in touch, your ‘response rating’ must remain fairly high.
You can schedule times when you’re not at Messenger.
- Click Settings
- In the left column, click Messaging
- Under Response Assistant, toggle the bar to Yes for Stay responsive when you can’t get to your computer or phone
